The SPAR Women ’ s races were first run in 1992 , and after more than 30 years of challenging women of every age and ability to tackle 10km or 5km in a safe , fun atmosphere , SPAR is understandably happy with the success of the 2023 series , which also marked the 15th year of the SPAR Grand Prix competition for elite athletes within the women ’ s races . “ We at SPAR are very proud to sponsor the SPAR Grand Prix , which is firmly established as arguably the country ’ s leading road running series for women ,” said SPAR National Sponsorship and Events Manager , Charlene Subbarayan .

All entrants in the six SPAR Women ’ s Challenge events in 2023 went into a lucky draw for a brand new Proton X50 SUV worth R450,000 , and the lucky winner whose name was drawn at the 2023 SPAR Grand Prix Awards held in Sandton on Tuesday , 31 October 2023 was Jannika van Niekerk of Cape Town !

“ Congratulations to Tadu for another imperious display of front-running . We are also delighted that this year , we are able to reward the top South African runners , who responded to the challenge by taking on the East Africans , who dominate distance running across the world ,” she added .

This is how the series standings finished after the sixth and final race in Johannesburg , with individual runners scoring points in their categories , and clubs scoring points depending on how many athletes qualified for points in these categories .
