# 9Peaks

While they were busy with their Challenge , Ryno Griesel and Jock Green kept their families and supporters up to date on their progress via social media posts , and their support driver , Stephan , also chimed in with pics and posts along the way . We ’ ve selected a few here to highlight the journey .

Day 1 ( 12 May )

Day 3 ( 14 May )

Ryno : Day 3 , another 2 peaks tagged and also a puncture and a crash for me .
9Peaks : With the team making their way to Witsieshoek in the northern Drakensberg tomorrow , Day 3 included a long cycle and two of the smaller peaks from the challenge .

Day 4 ( 15 May )

Jock : Wind , wind , and more wind . Was cold out there today - Vaal Dam to Witsieshoek . Tomorrow we run the first ‘ Berg Peak , Nahamadi .
Ryno : Day 4 , bit of rain & mud , lots of head-wind , and some mountain fog .
9Peaks : With lots of wind , rain and just really cold weather , the team made their way on their bicycles from the Vaal Dam to Witsieshoek . Following them thus far has been incredible and this is a really impressive effort . With Day 5 ahead , the guys will be heading into the Drakensberg for the first time tomorrow .
Jock : Solid start to our # 9PeaksBike project , getting in Iron Crown peak in Limpopo and De Berg peak in Mpumalanga , with 310km cycling in between . Easier day tomorrow , with only 300km of cycling and no running .
Ryno : Day1 was pretty hard , with a mix of characterbuilding gravel roads & potholes . The climbs also kept us honest , but what an adventure . A good distance & the first peaks tagged .

Day 2 ( 13 May )

Jock : Close call an hour ago as Ryno got attacked whilst we were navigating a ‘ tricky ’ section . Very fortunate to have some locals come to our rescue and to only lose his phone . We ’ re back on the road now .
Ryno : Day 2 . Good solid day of riding , but the day unfortunately also included an attack , forcing me to exchange my phone for a polite request at knifepoint by a few gents . They initially insisted on my bike as well , but by grace we managed to eventually keep it & escape unharmed .

Day 5 ( 16 May )

Jock : Bagged Namahadi Peak today ( highest peak in the Free State at 3291m above sea level ). And then some bike cleaning !
Ryno : Day 5 – tagged the first of the BIG Berg Peaks , Namahadi ( Free State ) at 3291m
Jock : Day 2 of our # 9peaksbike project was full on – close call for Ryno , on top of the state of our roads in Limpopo and Mpumalanga , and another 310km on the bike . Tomorrow we start with a run up ‘ my ’ mountain in the Magaliesburg , and a ride to Villiers .
