A record number of more than 1200 accredited broadcast personnel from 46 broadcasters , as well as 850 accredited media and photographers from 75 countries , covered the championships . The various rights-holding broadcasters report that huge audiences tuned in all across the world , while these World Champs saw 14,000 news articles published online , for a reach of 28.5 billion views in total !

The official website of the event averaged nearly one million visitors a day in the first seven days , meaning Budapest had already surpassed the total number of visitors for any previous World Championships . The popularity of the website ’ s live results platform also rocketed up , and its views on day one of the meet was more than double that for any previous event . At peak times , the website received over 400,000 views per minute , and up to 14 million per hour .
