Double Bragging Rights for Menlopark

Menlopark crowned SA ’ s best athletics school at the 2022 Twizza Super School Series National Final , as future stars of South African track and field show they ’ re ready to step up to the next level !
to be Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool ( Affies ), Menlopark High School and Prestige College from Gauteng , as well as Paarl Boys High School and Oakdale Agricultural High School from the Western Cape .
The top teams amongst the girls ’ teams included Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool , Menlopark High School , Prestige College and Helpmekaar Kollege of Gauteng , and La Rochelle Girls ’ High School , Paarl Girls ’ High and Hoër Meisieskool Bloemhof of the Western Cape , to mention just a few .

Schools athletics in South Africa has always produced fireworks , with both individual athletes and school teams vying for the title of best athlete at local inter-schools meets , at provincial level and then at SA Schools and SA Junior Champs . The talent in the country has also seen South Africa claim a substantial number of medals on the global stage at World Youth and World Junior Champs , as well as the Youth Olympics .

The Final saw an impressive total of 77 teams from 59 schools taking to the track , with each school required to enter a team of 15 athletes , across the U15 , U17 and U19 ( U20 ASA ) age categories . The following events were on the programme , for both boys and girls :
• U15 , U17 and U19 : 100m , 200m , 400m , 800m , 1500m , short hurdles , long hurdles , long jump , high jump , shotput , discus and javelin

It was therefore no surprise to see the level of competition notched up still higher at the 2022 Twizza Super School Series National Final , which took place at Ruimsig Athletics Stadium in Roodepoort , Gauteng , on Saturday 19 February . Launched in 2019 , the Twizza Super School Series has quickly become a highlight on the schools ’ athletics calendar , and has one clear goal in mind , to crown SA ’ s best athletics school . That winning school then claims bragging rights for one year !
Ready for Battle
Aptly dubbed the battle of “ North vs South ,” the meet saw the top schools from all over the country meet in Gauteng for the finals , having qualified at one of the two preliminary rounds in Roodepoort ( last September ) and Cape Town ( last October ). Going into the final , the strongest contenders in the boy ’ s team category appeared
