The Dryland Traverse is more than just a multi-day stage trail race , it is an unforgettable experience that leaves one wanting more . It ’ s not just the wonderful trail and scenic setting in the Swartberg Mountains , a UNESCO World Heritage site , and surrounding areas of Oudtshoorn , or the smooth organisation of the event , including great food and tented accommodation , but also thanks to the incredible vibe of the event .

You can run it solo or as part of a paired team , and whole families take part , as well as groups from various running clubs and training groups , with all the local towns represented : Oudtshoorn , George , Mossel Bay , Knysna , Plett and more . Some runners come back year after year , with some athletes doing their eighth or ninth Dryland at this year ’ s 10th edition , and the spirit amongst the various groups was really special . From start to finish it was fun and relaxed , in spite of the running required .
Some of the technical descents had the runners zig-zagging 32 down
