Having run there myself , I can vouch for this reserve being fun to run , with the best part being the view over the entire Cape Town metropolitan area , with Table Mountain as a spectacular backdrop . Guaranteed to make you stop to take it in properly ! – Ed .

GIVE TYGERBERG A TRY …
For those who want a great off-road challenge closer to home in and around Cape Town , but not on the crowded Table Mountain trails , go to Tygerberg Nature Reserve . Just R20 per adult , it ’ s safe , and you can run with your road shoes , as it is not too technical . They only open at 7:30am daily , so some heat training ! COMRADES MEMORABILIA ON SALE
I see you can buy Comrades Marathon gear at Mr Price Sport : Caps , shirts , all branded . This does not sit well with me personally . I have a goal to complete a Comrades and feel that only then you deserve to have bragging rights . – Bushy Jansen van Vuuren

No , you are supporting them . Like a fav soccer team . The sale of kit forms a huge part of their income . Running the Comrades is different . You can have supporter shirts . But to wear one you have to have put the miles in , and the time , and finished it . Shirts should be given at the end , too ... But that ’ s a different discussion . – Sean Marc Verdon

Every time I see someone putting on a T-shirt of a certain running event , I step closer just to discuss the experience . That ’ s how most runners are . New Balance Outlet stores sold the old Comrades gear as well , previously . Tried on a running legging and only realised it ’ s branded in the fitting room . Never bought it , though , as I also believe you need to earn bragging rights , but just FYI , not new to Mr Price Sport . – Lisa Rainsford
It is Comrades-branded , but you can ’ t buy a starter ’ s T-shirt or cap . Personally , I think it ’ s a good way to extend the brand . I do suspect , though , that most people who aren ’ t Comrades runners or family will probably avoid buying , as they will forever have to explain to people that they didn ’ t actually run the race . Ultimately , though , Comrades is not about a T-shirt or medal . It ’ s about the lifestyle , the commitment over many months , lining up at the start , sharing the day with other runners and getting yourself to the finish line . If there were no T-shirts at all , I ’ d absolutely still do the race . It ’ s a trivial detail , as far as I ’ m concerned . – Mike J Smuts

Every year I have been doing Comrades in front of my television , and not once have I finished that race .
