Given her semi-regular medical issues while racing , Naomi decided to get herself checked out , and thinks she has found the solution to the problem . “ After Addo , I saw a sport physician who diagnosed haemostatic hypertension , which is common in athletes , and suggested I wear compression socks . Also , I still have an iron deficiency , but I am no longer anaemic . I did have some problems in the UK , though , due to not having access to my medical records . They refused to give me an Iron IV , so I was actually lucky not to be racing this past year due to COVID-19 , because my iron is very low .”
Looking ahead , Naomi says there are two components to her running plans . The first is that she would like to get onto the World Tour circuit . “ The list

of events I ’ d ideally like to tackle in 2021 includes Tarawera , UTMB , UTCT , UT Australia , 100 Miles of Istria in Croatia , and the Mozart 100km in Austria .” Meanwhile , she has other plans as well , including a FKT ( Fastest Known Time ) attempt of the 250km traverse of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco , which she wants to do to raise funds for nature conservation . “ I am also part of the Patagonia Brand Ambassador Programme , which is based on things you do for the environment , and I ’ m looking to see how I can run to support various wildlife research and conservation projects .”
