ADVERTORIAL T he fourth event in the 2019 Toyota Warrior Series powered by Reebok, held at the Blythedale Coastal Estate in KwaZulu-Natal in late July, brought a highly competitive field out to do battle for line honours, as well as the South Africa Obstacle Course Racing Champs titles that were up for grabs. On top of the fast-paced racing and traditionally tough obstacles, the gusting wind made things still harder for the competitors, especially on the soft sands of the beach sections, but this just served to bring out the best in SA’s toughest OCR warriors. In the men’s Black-Ops elite race, Armin Botha took the lead from the get- go, with Claude Eksteen and Tian Basson chasing hard on his heels. Armin maintained the lead through the Breaking Point obstacle, but a fatal mistake on Iron Rig cost him the race as he was left behind by the leaders and fell right out of the podium positions. That saw Claude take the win and the national title. The women’s race was dominated from start to finish by Nedene Cahill, who had won the five previous Warrior events, with her team mate and defending SA Champ, Trish Eksteen, holding down second place throughout the race.
