ompiling a list of nominations for and then picking the athlete of the year is always
an interesting endeavour – and always a subjective one. There is no definitive
correct answer, and opinions may differ widely from one person to the next whether
we got it right. That said, there are always those who do stand out a bit more than others,
and who really should be in the mix. So you may have other favourites that you would have
liked to see here, but these are the nominees and winners that the Modern Athlete team
