Running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is the pinnacle of achievement for elite athletes and everyday runners alike . On race day , runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries will set out to accomplish a personal dream by reaching the finish line in Grant Park . The Chicago Marathon is a marathon held yearly in Chicago , Illinois , United States . Alongside the Boston , New York , London , Berlin , and Tokyo Marathons , it is one of the six World Marathon Majors . Thus , it is also an IAAF Gold Label race . The Chicago Marathon is the fourth-largest race by number of finishers worldwide . The race is limited to 45,000 runners and only runners who finish within 6½ hours are officially timed .
ITINERARY
Friday , 05 October 2018 :
Arrive in Chicago and make your way to your hotel . Dependent on your arrival time , you could head to the marathon expo to collect your race bib . Thereafter enjoy a relaxed night tasting the local cuisine and meeting the locals .
Saturday , 06 October 2018 :
After breakfast you can enjoy the sights and sounds of Chicago and enjoy a day in the city . The remainder of your day and evening are free for you to explore if you don ’ t wish to join one of the trips .
Sunday , 07 October 2018 :
Today is the day . The race start is 7:30 with waves at 08.00 / 08.35 . After the marathon , you have the option to join a post marathon Gala Dinner and Traditional Show .
Monday , 08 October 2018 :
With so much to see and explore in Chicago , today you have a day for sightseeing before travelling home .
