STILL NEED AN OMTOM ENTRY ?
Ran out of luck during the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon ballot process ? Caught by surprise when OMTOM Ultra entries closed within two days ? There ’ s still hope … because you can still secure your place in the 2018 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon via Substitution Entry before 28 February .
The substitution process provides an important logistical function that contributes to athletes ’ safety on race day . Runners withdraw from the Ultra , Half and Trail events for a number of reasons , but it ’ s not just a matter of handing your race number over to a friend . Each runner ’ s personal profile , which includes important medical and emergency information , is linked to his / her race number , and the substitution process facilitates the linking of a newly-issued number to the new participant .
Not following the proper procedure could have life-threatening consequences , as emergency personnel rely on the accuracy of the information linked to an athlete ’ s race number . So visit www . twooceansmarathon . org . za and follow the easy Substitution Entry Process .
BEWARE OF FRAUDSTERS !
With the high demand for entries , there are individuals who abuse the trust of runners by advertising invalid substitutions . The OMTOM team has beefed up its Substitution Entry security by requiring that all monetary transactions for Substitution Entries are facilitated via Webtickets , the event ’ s official payment portal .
Here are some tips to ensure your substitution entry is a smooth process :
• Do not buy entries from third-party reseller sites .
• No money may change hands between two parties – ALL relevant payments and refunds will be done via Webtickets .
• The withdrawing runner must issue you with a voucher number , which you will use to finalise your entry and make your payments . There is no need to negotiate fees or engage with the withdrawing runner in any other way .
ADDING # RUNASONE HEART TO THE RACE
Athletes from disadvantaged communities who cannot afford to participate in the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon and would like to apply to be part of the OMTOM Runners ’ Village this coming Easter Weekend must get their applications in by 28 February . These athletes will be accommodated at the Cape Academy of Mathematics , Science and Technology in Tokai , from Friday 30 March , with meals , accommodation and race-day transport to the start provided .
Applications are open until 28 February , and running clubs are invited to apply on behalf of a needy club member via www . twooceansmarathon . org . za / information / runners-village .
DON ’ T FORFEIT YOUR ENTRY !
If you entered the 2018 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon , log into your online profile before 5pm on 28 February , and make sure that all your details are up to date :
• Qualifier ( especially for the Ultra Marathon )
• Medical details
• Running Club details with 2018 license number
• Any changes to personal information
Take note that runners who do not update their details by 28 February will lose their entry .
A FAMILY AFFAIR
The OMTOM Race Village at UCT becomes a hive of activity every year on Good Friday , when runners and walkers of all ages , shapes and fitness levels congregate on the sports fields to participate in one of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Fun Runs . This is an incredibly popular event for families , with distances accessible to all runners and walkers :
• 56m Nappy Dash – a short and sweet run for little walkers under 3 years of age .
• 250m Toddlers ’ Trot – everyone ’ s a winner at this popular event for kids aged 4 to 6 .
• 2.1km Fun Run – perfect for those who have just started running , or are making a comeback after some time off .
• 5.6km Fun Run – a great opportunity to run your first 5km .
Online entries close on 28 February , but manual entries will be accepted at the OMTOM Expo on 28 and 29 March , as well as at UCT on 30 March .

• Running clubs will be required to verify their valid and paid-up 2018 memberships on the OMTOM entry system between 1 and 6 March . Login details will be emailed to all clubs who have runners with 2018 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon entries .
