What has changed : This shoe sees the new IGNITE 2.0 midsole foam hit the streets , and it is significantly lighter but still just as responsive as the original IGNITE . It provides energy return as well as stable cushioning , meaning you feel more comfortable when your foot strikes the ground , and you get some extra acceleration as your foot leaves the ground again . It ’ s a win-win !
Wear-testing notes : The standalone IGNITE models were introduced to great fanfare a few years ago , with Usain Bolt at the New York unveiling , as PUMA launched its new midsole rubber compound . IGNITE has subsequently been introduced into the Speed range , in wedges or full-length layers in conjunction with PU or EVA midsole materials , but in the IGNITE model the entire midsole is made from super-springy IGNITE .
When you throw in a lightweight SPEEDTRACTION outsole and large cut-away of the midsole in the midfoot area , you can see why this shoe has lost weight in its latest version . Along with prominent flex grooves in the forefoot , this all makes it super comfy to run in , but at the same time this model is recommended more for entry-level , shorter distance running , while the Speed range are better suited to harder , longer running .
Meanwhile , the ariaprene slipper-fit of the rear portion of the upper ensures a snug fit and prevents slippage , while the mesh of the toe-box ensures good ventilation , but it ’ s the NETFIT customisable lacing that really makes the shoe zing . Once you find the perfect fit for your feet , running just seems that much easier !
