Our club operates largely in a virtual environment in the Central Gauteng ( CGA ) and Gauteng North ( AGN ) running provinces , but it has a real presence at events and through club functions . MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS IN YOUR RUNNING CAREER ?
My first ultra-marathon at Om Die Dam . This was the first time I saw salt and Vaseline at the water station and realised I actually needed both to conquer Saartjie ’ s Nek ! The other would be the Soweto Marathon , when my right hip had died completely at 24km . I finished the race literally balancing on my left foot and hip , very impressed with my finishing time of 5:11 .
WHAT ARE YOUR RUNNING GOALS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS ?
I want to complete my first Comrades in 2018 . My mind has been ready for a long time , and I ’ ve been taking it one step at a time , so I am on track in my training towards this goal . The Washie 160km is also on the bucket list for 2019 / 2020 .
WHAT DOES RUNNING MEAN TO YOU ?
Running has so many lessons that help you to conquer life itself , notably that you are stronger in your weakest moments .
