The Wanda Diamond League is the elite one-day meeting series in global track and field athletics . It comprises 15 of the most prestigious events , crossing four continents to visit 13 different countries and reaching athletics fans in all corners of the world . These meets feature 32 different disciplines across sprints , hurdles , middle-distance , jumps and throws , and athletes compete for points at the 14 series meetings in a bid to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final , where the winners of the final in each discipline are crowned Wanda Diamond League champions and awarded iconic diamond trophies . Outside of the major championships – Olympics , World Champs , continental / area champs , etc – the title of the Wanda Diamond League Champion title is considered one of the sport ’ s most prestigious global titles .
After another record-breaking Wanda Diamond League season in 2024 , athletes and fans of the sport can now begin their preparations for the next
Wanda Diamond League campaign . The 2025 Wanda Diamond League season will begin in Xiamen , China on 26 April , and will see the world ’ s biggest track and field stars compete across four different continents at 14 of the sport ’ s most prestigious one-day meetings , with the most successful athletes then qualifying for the two-day Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich , Switzerland on 27-28 August .
The road to the final will begin in Xiamen on 26 April and many athletes will remain in China for the second meeting of the season in Shanghai / Suzhou on 3 May . The series will then head to Doha and Rabat before the first European meeting of the year in Rome on 6 June . Following stops in Oslo , Stockholm and Paris , the series will then hit Eugene , Monaco and London in July before entering the home straight in August . After meetings in Silesia , Lausanne and Brussels , the Wanda Diamond League Final will return to Zurich for the first time since 2022 .
Each discipline will be staged between four and seven times during the series , giving all athletes across the full diversity of track and field disciplines the chance to qualify for the final . Then , all 32 Wanda Diamond League champions will be crowned at the series final at Weltklasse Zurich , with both the iconic Diamond Trophy and record new levels of prize money up for grabs . With the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo taking place in September , the Wanda Diamond League will also provide the perfect preparation ground for the year ’ s major global championships .
Biggest Prize Purse Yet !
Great news for the athletes is that the Wanda Diamond League will increase its prize money to the highest levels in the series ’ history from next season . Following a decision by the Diamond League General Assembly , the total amount of prize money paid over the course of the season will increase to 9,24-million US dollars in 2025 . This is almost a third higher than the sum paid during the pandemic-affected period of 2021- 2024 , and the highest ever since the Diamond League ’ s launch in 2010 .
Under the new structure , the total prize money awarded per regular meeting will be $ 500,000 , and $ 2,240,000 at the Wanda Diamond League Final . The total prize money per discipline will be between $ 30,000 and $ 50,000 at the series meetings , and between $ 60,000 and $ 100,000 at the Final . As always , prize money is entirely gender-equal , with exactly the same rates for male and female athletes .
Including promotional fees for top athletes , a total of around $ 18-million will be paid to athletes in total over the course of the 2025 season , with many more millions being invested in athlete services , such as travel and transport , accommodation and medical and physio provision . Since 2010 , the series and its meetings have invested an estimated $ 270-million in athletes : $ 180-million in promotional fees and prize money , and around $ 90-million in athlete services . And as it enters its 16th season in 2025 , the series will continue to provide the best conditions possible and highest-level services for athletes in all disciplines .
