What They Said …
We chatted to a few HYROX Cape Town athletes to get their take on the event experience .
“ It was a great experience and massive highlight entering as a 64-year-old , without judgement on my ability or age . I did the mixed relay race with my son , and the encouragement from my fellow BoundFit family was incredible . I loved the event as a participant , volunteer and team supporter .” – Barbie Erasmus , 64 ( Cape Town , Western Cape )
“ Sport brings the world together , and HYROX brought people from many countries , including myself , to South Africa in September . HYROX Cape Town was my first race abroad and will be one I never forget . Not only was it wonderful travelling to a new city , but running doubles with my South African partner Cameron Cleaver provided a unique opportunity to get to sweat it out and compete with someone local . Just like with other HYROX events , the atmosphere and experience off the course was equally as enjoyable . I had the great fortune of connecting with other racers as we capped off the evening watching the Springboks deep into the night . It might have taken a handful of flights and a combined 60 hours of travel to and from Texas , but I ’ d do it all over again to race alongside the friends I made on this trip .” – Matt Halfhill , 40 ( Austin , Texas )
