study and teach myself everything I could about fashion design. From sewing to sketch art. Everything! Once college started, I quickly moved out of their house. It was very freeing for me, because I could finally start my journey! The biggest challenge for me was trying to start my company while studying at university full time, but I was determined. Since I wore my own gowns and dresses…and went out in them, my name started getting around! It was so exciting! I picked up several commissions throughout the year 2013, and I was nominated for 2013 F.A.C.E. awards, and I won! I made the cover of AbOut Magazine that month. It was unbelievable. After finishing my first line of couture, I had the honor of showing my designs in the Austin and Dallas fashion weeks 2014! I was featured in the Dallas Fab Magazine. Designer Nicholas Phat Nguyen Graduated in International Business from University of Houston-Downtown is the open door to his dreams. He win the FACE Award for Designer of the Year 2014. His first show at Austin fashion week was a success. And now he is working harder than ever to reach his dreams and goals in life. I grew up in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Life is very hard there, and it’s easy to lose sight of your dreams, because you’re forced to work hard and provide for the family. Most people find it difficult to think outside of the box. But, I had this dream inside of me. I wanted to become a big fashion designer! I believed in myself, completely. The doors were finally opening for me and I was more driven than ever before. I began to realize I was in control of my dreams and my dreams were coming true! I was finally ready for the next step. I decided I need to take a trip back home. I sacrificed four months of my time and left my work behind to travel to Vietnam. I wanted to set up a small family owned factory for my designs. My family helped me with the connections they had, and it felt really to give back to the community that raised me. I am so blessed. Since I’ve been back home, I’ve been working and planning very hard. I want to go strong in 2015!
