Factories have to abide these. Many factories that produce Fashion garments are largely located in the far East such as China or Bangladesh or Eastern Europe in countries like Romania and Turkey. Brands usually choose these locations to produce their clothes because of the cheap labour and hard work ethic. laws too. As many of these countries are poverty stricken, residents want to work to earn money and will therefore take any job even if the pay is low. However, the lack of direct connection between the brand and the factories and the cheap labour that they inforce can cause ethical trading guidelines to become blurred guidelines to become blurred.

On the 24th of April 2013, the Rana Plaza disaster occurred. The factory which supplied brands such as Primark and Mango, employed 4000 people but by the end of the day 1/4 had been killed. The 8 story building was not able to support the 2 extra floor that had been added which led to the walls and pillars to become unstable and collapse. For this disaster to happen, ethical guidelines were totally ignored. Not only were the working conditions unbearably unsafe, it was found that the employees working hours were excessive.
