On October 25th, 2010, the HLI family lost one of its own.
Jesse Buchsbaum, age 17, was the son of forum member
Charles “Bud” Buchsbaum. As the son of a modeler, it was only
natural that Jesse also turned to modeling. Building just about
anything, Jesse’s latest project was a Hummer H2, which
Bud proudly posted pictures of at the HLI forums. Jesse had
been studying culinary arts at Vo-Tech, as well as attending
Boyertown Area High school. Memorial contributions can be
made to National Penn Bank, P.O. Box 547, Boyertown, PE,
19512 under the “Jesse Fund”.It is always the main focus
of any modeling website, forum, magazine, or organization to
promote the hobby and encourage more youth to get involved.
Jesse was a great kid and had embraced the hobby as his own.
Scale modeling is a hobby community unlike most others in that
close friendships and bonds are easily created. Indeed, most of
these bonds cross the line from friendships to being more like
family. And while it’s always hard dealing with the loss of
any modeler, a tragic loss such as this is even harder. But
while we mourn the loss, let us also celebrate the life. That life
has touched all of us at HLI, and for that we will not only be
grateful to have known Jesse, but we will always remember
him in our hearts. The staff of Hobby Link International and
