A
COSTAMANI
SUMMARY
It’s been four years since the first collections
from Costamani saw the light of day.
At the helm of the popular Danish fashion
brand is Merete Wang Andersen who has
prior experience as both an agent and di-
stributor in the fashion industry. She wanted
to develop her own brand, so she started
Costamani.
- The basic idea behind Costamani was to
deliver a colourful and fresh brand to the
fashion scene - a much needed renewal at
the time when the industry was dominated
by pretty dark collections. This was in the
middle of the financial crisis where every-
thing was rather bleak. So we introduced a
brand with plenty of colourful prints, and the
first collection of 30 pieces just flew off the
racks. We completely hit the mark, not least
with our viscose shirts with beautiful prints,
says the designer.
- We offered a bit of sprawl to stores, and
I’ve since expanded the collection with de-
signs in many different materials. Today,
Costamani has been developed into a com-
plete match programme, and we’re con-
stantly developing more and more of our
own unique print designs, says founder and
managing director Merete Wang Andersen.
She adds that Costamani is different from
other brands because of its emphasis on
details and estimates that the success owes
itself to the combination of an exclusive look,
interesting prints, and great details that the
brand offers at a commercial price.
- We’re naturally looking forward to meeting
new and existing customers at CIFF, but I
also want to mention the option to order
from our website, which uses SPY’s profes-
sional b2b sales platform, and it is really easy
to use and highly functional. We have also
gained customs approval with a Norwegian
business number, which will ensure easy and
straightforward trade with Norwegian re-
tailers, says Merete Wang Andersen.
At CIFF, Costamani will show both news for
Spring/Summer 2020 and items available for
immediate delivery. The brand is represented
in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany,
Belgium, and the Netherlands. And as of 1
July 2019, Costamani has brought in a new
minority owner and investor in preparation
for future growth.
