All in all, the headlines Casual Dandy and
Neo Bourgeois describe a men’s fashion
that is formal but with a casual vibe. Inspi-
ration is drawn from areas such as hunting,
horse riding, and hiking. We also see refe-
rences to the hippie and boheme types of
the 1970s in this part of next winter’s men’s
fashion.
TREND 3: SPACE SPORT
Not least with respect to the younger con-
sumers and in outerwear fashion, this trend
draws inspiration from a mix of space tra-
vel and winter sports. Most importantly, the
look uses lots of volume, and volume can
be achieved either with synthetic fibres or
with down or feathers from sustainable pro-
duction.

The style mimics the look of the astronaut
and it can be seen in its focus on functiona-
lity, both with respect to details and finishes.
Work is being done to draw attention to quil-
ted air panels, and the boldest of the brands
are going for whole items in strong colours
such as bubblegum, bright green, and red-
orange. Another approach to this trend is
to not use colours at all, instead opting for
white on white to catch the eye.
The quite voluminous styles provide room
to wear knitwear under one’s outerwear, but
creative designers will also showcase over-
sized knitwear as the top layer.
Quilted bags, quilted overtrousers and quilted,
ankle-length down coats as well as moonwalk
inspired boots are all items you can add to
your wardrobe for a space-like look.

Visible, sporty elements that look like un-
derwear with long sleeves and legs provide
a new twist to the layered way of thinking.
In terms of prints, we’re seeing motifs
that blend space and stars with the tie-
dye technique to form a new, slightly hazy
space-like look.
New combinations of down jackets and bla-
zers and down jackets made from fabrics
normally used for blazers are other new
takes on men’s fashion for A/W 20/21.
The fashion offers something for both the
commercial and the more avant-garde min-
ded consumer, and suppliers are ready to
show their interpretations of the trend at the
upcoming fashion trade fairs.
