AW20/21 MODERN HERITAGE KAFFE ZEZE SOYACONCEPT BYOUNG ISAY KAREN BY SIMONSEN DEPECHE MP DENIM HUNTER CLAIRE WOMAN CREAM DRANELLA MP COSTAMANI FRANSA NÜ SOAKED IN LUXURY SOYACONCEPT TREND 2: MODERN HERITAGE Part of next winter’s fashion will draw inspi- ration from the Renaissance, but with a twist that is going to give it an exciting and mo- dern look. This is the case in both women’s and men’s fashion, with slightly different ap- proaches in each. The women’s side of things draws on aspects from the gobelin universe. Among elements from the Renaissance are collars, brooches, and puff sleeves. Long Renaissance dresses are reinterpreted into shorter mini Renais- sance dresses, while the spencer also gets a comeback. Long laced boots will be part of this winter’s footwear trend. Skirts and dresses remain an important part of the fashion, and we’ll see both maxi dres- MATINIQUE ZHENZI ETAGE ROSEMUNDE ses, ankle skirts, midi skirts, and A-line dres- ses. Lace, frill, and hairbands reference the past, but also younger girls’ favourite clothes, such as tulle, which brings volume and provides a feminine - sometimes slightly caricatured - little girl look. Dusty, purple colour tones and long-sleeved dresses provide a beautiful feminine and winterly look, and prints with flower and heri- tage motifs - such as from the British horse riding and hunting environment - continue. Much of the innovation in this theme is fou- nd in the silhouette: sleeves are larger, you might see frills, and details such as cuffs on shirts, blouses, and dresses are given a more important and visible place. The classical shirt blouse is revived with new collars - in- cluding various interpretations of Peter Pan collars - bows and sleeve types. In terms of materials, we’ll see a preference for classical and solid materials such as tweed, wool, silk, and rich velour. Check patterns in different styles continue. The modernized Renaissance look employs combinations of the classical with the rougher - such as the combination of silk and leather. On the men’s side of things, heritage is in- terpreted in the form of a reintroduction of items such as the slipover. Granddad knit- ting with shawl collars and V-necks are also coming back, while symbols from the Ivy League/college style can be seen on em- blems and print motifs. Men’s trousers often have pleats and are fairly wide.
