Nature is as a rich world of inspiration Flowers, owls and birds are among the motives on the new products from Koustrup & Co. Koustrup & Co. focuses on eco-friendly production and uses materials such as organic textiles and FSR-certified paper. BY HELLE MATHIESEN The Danish design company Koustrup & Co. is a supplier of beau- tiful design with built-in educational features on nature. The topics are, for instance, plants, animals, gastronomy and organic living. For Autumn/Winter and Christmas 2019, Koustrup & Co. finds in- spiration in birds, flowers and the wise owls. The motifs are printed onto art prints, dishtowels, trays, posters, cushions, toilet and cos- metic bags and beautiful three-dimensional glass baubles. PORCEL AIN BOXES - Among the brand new products are the very fine, small porce- lain trinket boxes with amaryllis and gold foil and the porcelain lidded box in the same line, says Katrine Koustrup, head of design and production. Together with her sister and brother-in-law – Lise Marie and Christian Abildgaard – she is a part of the family-owned company. The parents – husband and wife Ulla and Søren Koustrup – had originally retired from the publishing industry, but they could not let go of the shared love for books about nature, garden and food. As a result, they launched their own publishing agency in 2011, Koustrup & Co., which has since ventured into new areas besides books. Nature continues to be a primary source of inspiration. RESPONSIBILIT Y Koustrup & Co. has a strong focus on responsibility and sustaina- bility. - We use FSC-certified fabrics and act organically and sustainably whenever it is possible. For example, we reuse everything we can. As a result, the packages we send out can look quite different de- pending on whatever materials are available at the given moment. Our packing fill is made from corn, which is 100% degradable. Children can also use the fill to build small figurines by dabbing the fill in water so it sticks together, says Katrine Koustrup.
