"I heard that the new iphone will be released in May."
"Did you hear about the girls who got into a fight? They fought over a guy!"
It disseminates from mouths to ears, then regenerates from ears to mouths. People unconsciously and unintentionally spread different types of rumors in daily conversations, casual talks and gossips. It seems like many people immediately come up with a notion that rumor posses a negative connotation; however, it is not always a detrimental action as majority of people think because there are different types of rumors. Rumors could have positive contents such as- "the new member in our choir fits really well into the team." In the other hand, it definitely could be a negative rumor. Yet, it is not because of what the rumor is, but because of what people gossip about. It is a trend seen from the past to present.
In usual gossip, issues discussed are stimulating topics including negative rumors of other people or events. A few differences between the past rumors and the present rumors would be the time period, the topics relevant to the time period and how far the rumors would be spread due to the globalization. As an example, rumor about a trial that took place in a town would be spread in the town from mouths to mouths.
