HOW DO I KNOW IF MY RV IS COMPLIANT ?
It is important understanding that Australian standards need to be met when working on or changing out appliances in your RV . It could be tempting for someone to fit a new appliance to replace an old appliance in an RV . If this is done , particularly with an appliance that uses LPG as a power source , it would be necessary for a gas compliance certificate to be re-issued on the overall RV gas installation . Don ’ t be tempted to do the job yourself unless you are properly qualified .
With AS / NZ5601 – there is a requirement that the code is met , along with the installation instructions from the manufacturer , which can at times override the code itself . If the installation manual instructions for the new appliance differs to the installation instructions for the old appliance , the RV installation could be non-compliant . Our advice is to not risk it . Whoever last worked on any part of the gas installation will be liable for the whole installation and may affect your insurance if your vehicle is not compliant .
