HOW DO I KNOW IF MY BATTERIES ARE REPLENISHED BEFORE GOING OFF THE GRID ?
It is common for people to underestimate what their solar charging requirements will be . It is important , particularly if regularly free camping , you have enough solar and battery backup to meet your usage requirements . Understanding what the energy consumers are in your caravan or RV is important . These can include your refrigerator as the main consumer , your lights , dc television , water pump and so on . Work out what the wattage of the products is and how long each day you will use them approximately to understand what you will need to replenish to your batteries each day . A good rule of thumb is to have 2 / 3 in reserve for battery storage . For example , if your products are to consume 100 amp hours per day on average , the best practice would be to have 300 amphours of battery storage and solar panels sufficient to provide more than 100 amp hours per day . That way if you get a couple of cloudy days / periods you are less likely to run out of power . Get it right at the set-up stage and travel confidently .
