E very year, for the past six years, What’s Up Downunder (WUDU) have taken a convoy of Caravans on the road for two weeks to create their annual Summer TV Series. On each convoy the program raises funds for a selected charity. During November 2017, Dometic and WUDU partnered to put the Convoy on the road again to Follow the Sun and raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). NBCF last partnered with Dometic and WUDU during the 2016 Follow The Sun campaign. The Dometic Follow the Sun Convoy for Charity started in Whyalla, on South Australia’s stunning Eyre Peninsula. The convoy travelled through the beautiful towns of Port Lincoln, Coffin Bay, Elliston, Streaky Bay and ended in Wudinna close to the Gawler Ranges. It was a magnificent trip, spending two nights in each town, staying at the local caravan parks, and discovering some of the best tourist attractions you could imagine. Every town was different, but everywhere the convoy went they were welcomed by the most amazing people. During the convoys stay at the selected holiday parks a Happy Hour was organised so the guests and crew could enjoy some entertainment and have some fun. Although called Happy Hour the events often went on for hours because everyone was enjoying themselves, and no-one wanted to go to bed! During the event there was a sausage sizzle and raffle tickets were sold to raise much needed funds for the NBCF. In addition to this the convoy participants took to the streets of the towns along the way to talk to the lucky residents on the Eyre Peninsula. Every township was very welcoming and supportive. The 2018 Summer Series went to air on Channel 10 and affiliated networks on Saturday 3 February at 4pm. The series runs for 6 weeks. Check your local guides to find out when the Dometic Follow the Sun Convoy for Charity will be airing in your neck of the woods.
