Members'

CORNER

LET'S GET INVOLVED! By Dr. Dean Gogerdchi

MOA membership stayed active during a busy and productive 2015! MOA members were visible in the community volunteering and 2016 will be no different. If you are interested in participating and making an impact on your community, please email Dr. Dean Gogerdchi, MOA Membership Chair at [email protected] or [email protected].

As productive as we were in 2015, the year ahead will require even more member involvement in order to be successful. The Membership Committee aims to make 2016 the year of growth. In order to make our case to the state legislature that we represent the voice of optometrists, our organization needs to include a majority of optometrists

practicing in Maryland. I urge each one of you reading this to make an effort to reach out to an optometrist you know who is not currently a member. We are all colleagues and equals, regardless of our practice modality: our efforts in Annapolis serve to benefit our patients and raise our profession to a level that is equal to our peers across the country.

AACOS Update By Dr. Kevin Johnson

On 3/15, we had an event in Annapolis at Ruth's Chris. It was well attended with around 30 OD's in attendance. Alex Leder, MD (Elman Retina Group) gave a very nice lecture titled "What's New in AMD." Kevin Johnson, OD and Bryan Rogoff, OD gave a short legislative update and the the dinner was sponsored by Bausch & Lomb. AACOS's next event is tentatively scheduled for 6/6 and will be sponsored by Alcon. Details to follow. If you are not receiving invitations to our events, please contact the MOA office.
