SpECifiCaTiOnS 2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R struggle against the CBR1000RR, which is lighter at 172kg and has an additional 363cc of engine capacity!
No one is expecting the Ninja ZX-6R to be able to beat the CBR1000RR at all, so the limitations of the former are not factors an owner should worry about.
Performance wise, the Ninja ZX-6R gets up to speed very easily from 0-100km / h in less than 3.5 seconds and shortly after that, you will be travelling at 168km / h effortlessly!
Getting up to speed along the Karak Highway towards the hilly roads of Genting Highlands was a breeze with the Ninja ZX-6R. Fuel consumption is a respectable 325km on a full tank of RON95 when it is set on Low power mode and approximately 295km when it is set on Full power mode.
The riding position is ideal for sport riding as it puts the rider instantly at ease. The fuel tank, seat and rear frame offer good contact with the bike for enhanced rider feedback. Seat is short front-to-back, allowing the rider to rest his tailbone on the rear seat step, further contributing to the excellent feedback the rider gets from the chassis.
However, the pillion seat, is much too small for this writer’ s taste, especially if you have a passenger with large hips. And the idea of going long distance with the rider in“ crouching” position on the Ninja ZX-6R can be quite stressful to the back, especially with a backpack attached.
The race developed perimeter frame is the key to the Ninja ZX-6R’ s superb balance of flick-able handling, mid-corner stability and an ability to change lines on demand.
Frame, rear frame and swingarm provide a highly balanced chassis package. Its revised caster angle and fork tube height, and a new steering stem oil seal, all contribute to lighter

The larger volume silencer helps to reduce the noise levels, producing a super smooth sound. Its triangular cross section enables the requisite volume while ensuring a high lean angle and a compact image. Exhaust pre-chamber helps minimise silencer volume, contributing to mass centralisation.
The Kawasaki Traction Control( KTRC) system on the new Ninja ZX- 6R combines the best elements of the company’ s two traction control systems, S-KTRC and KTRC. Three modes cover a wide range of riding conditions, offering either enhanced sport riding performance or the peace of mind to negotiate slippery surfaces with confidence.
A choice of Full Power or Low Power modes allows riders to set power delivery to suit their preference and conditions. While output at lower rpm is the same, Low power mode limits output to approximately 80 per cent of Full Power and uses a milder throttle response. Combining KTRC and Power mode options, the rider has eight combinations from which to choose from. Like KTRC, Power Mode can also be controlled from the left grip.
The new FCC Assist & Slipper clutch employed on the Ninja ZX-6R was developed based on feedback from the racetracks. The new clutch uses two types of cams, an assist cam and a slipper cam. An analoguestyle tachometer is complemented by a multi-function LCD screen. A large numerical gear position indicator gives instant information to the rider – especially useful should a mis-shift occur. For suspensions, the Ninja ZX-6R combines the concepts of Showa SFF and BPF – the next-generation front fork which offers both racetrack performance and daily usability. Preload and damping( rebound and compression) are separated, facilitating easier set-up. All the adjusters are located at the top of the fork tubes – preload on the left; compression and rebound dumping on the
right. Spring rates and damping settings chosen maximise performance on winding roads, enabling riders to enjoy the Ninja ZX- 6R’ s sporty performance in a wide range of situations.
Its superior control as the fork begins to compress and very calm attitude as the vehicle weight shifts forward when reducing speed, offers greater chassis stability on corner entry.
For the brakes, the Ninja uses highly rigid, radial-mount mono-bloc callipers which deliver a firmer feel at the lever for enhanced control.
The larger 310mm petal disc brakes and a radial-pump front brake master cylinder complete the front brake package, ensuring powerful braking with excellent feel, while 220mm petal disc brake and lighter calliper slow the rear.
