MMRF INDEPENDENT EVENTS
14 TH ANNUAL ALEXANDER R. RICH, JR.
CHARITY GOLF OUTING
To kick off this two-day event, guests were treated to
a night of stand-up comedy followed by a full day of golf that
concluded with a special awards dinner hosted by the Rich
family. In 2004, Geoff Rich and his friend, Kevin Hurd, created
this event to honor Geoff’s father Alexander Rich, who is
living with myeloma. With the support of loyal and generous
sponsors, family and friends, this year’s event has raised over
$55,000 for the MMRF!
Organizing, running and participating in
the MMRF charity golf outing is one of
the most fulfilling things we can do as a
family. The MMRF is such a respectable
and worthy cause, which is echoed by the
many golfers who return year after year.

Beach and Boogie Bash was created in memory of Sabrina Watt, who passed away
in 2014 after a courageous battle against breast cancer. To continue Sabrina’s
philanthropic legacy, each year the event selects and recognizes a different charity
to bring awareness and critical funds. This year Beach and Boogie Bash raised
awareness and funds for the MMRF in memory of Tom Pope. Tom valiantly battled
multiple myeloma for more than six years. This amazing event featured music
from Continental Divide, a beach music and rhythm and blues band that Tom had
been the lead guitarist in since the early 1970s. The event was attended by 180
people and raised $11,000.
BANGOR RACE FOR MYELOMA!
The Bangor Race for Myeloma website states, “The end of
cancer begins with you!” Becky Reeve, who was diagnosed
with multiple myeloma in April 2005 and is the founding
organizer of the race, believes strongly in these words. 2017
marks the 11th Annual Bangor Race for Myeloma in Bangor,
Maine, where their goal is not only to raise funds for myeloma,
but to raise awareness in their community. This year’s race on
September 23 raised $6,600, with 89 people participating.
