#MMIAFeaturedMompreneurs LA’TICIA BEATTY Speaklife Durham, NC What’s the one thing you wish you knew when you started out? La’Ticia: I wish i knew that it takes more than hard work. It also takes faith. When tough times come (and it does) that’s not the time to quit. That’s the time to believe. How do you balance the roles of entrepreneur and mom? La’Ticia: I truly thank God for having two awesome boys that are very active in spots and gifted in academics. In the beginning it was really hard. I missed some important games but when i was able to hire staff and develop a support system being a Mompreneur hasn’t been so bad but it takes time. Share one business goal you’ve reached that you’re really proud of La’Ticia: The one business goal that I’ve reach that I’m truly proud of is being able to teach , empower and inspire other business owners to keep going. LORI HOBSON Finding Your Beauty with Dr. Lori Hampton, Virginia What’s the one thing you wish you knew when you started out? Lori: I wish I had known who would provide the best help for me in my business. I worked with a few business coaches that did not deliver what I really needed. I have to admit that it took a while for me to learn what I needed. How do you balance the roles of entrepreneur and mom? Lori: I got custody of my youngest Goddaughter, Kirstin, when she was 16. I did not have children of my own but I was very active in parenting both of my Goddaughters. Going from free and single to single parent overnight is overwhelming. I was also working full time. Once I got used to the added responsibilities, I added new challenges like: finishing my first book, developing and delivering workshops, going back to school, training as a speaker etc. I started my full time life coaching business after Kirstin was grown. Share one business goal you’ve reached that you’re really proud of Lori: I no longer work primarily out of my home. I have space in a professional office building complete with all of the amenities. Now when someone calls my receptionist answers with “Be president of you own fan club. Dr. Lori’s office. May I help you?” March / April 2015 Get exclusive resources when you subscribe at www.millionmomsinaction.com/subscribe | 15
