MMIA: When did you decide to become an entrepreneur?
JANELLE: Oh well I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I was
born from West Indian (Jamaican) parents and my parents were always
their own boss. I admired them greatly. My father owned and operated
his very own musical studio and auto mechanic shop. My mother (RIP)
had 2 of her very own upscale hair salons. So being an entrepreneur is
literally in my DNA. I love the fact that my parents got to come and go as
they pleased, traveled the world, and bought whatever they wanted. They
set goals on how much income they wanted to earn and called their own
shots. I enjoyed hanging around them as a child and helping them with
their businesses. It was so much fun for me. My mom let me shampoo
and wash her clients hair, and my dad would let me answer his business
line (as if I was the boss LOL).
MMIA: How long did it take you to go from business idea to actually
seeing income?
JANELLE: When I first started my online entrepreneur career with just
a website, blog, and social media… the minute I posted info (whether it
was a product I was selling or value of some sort of knowledge) I literally
started to see income coming in within a matter of days. It was totally
mind blowing. I couldn’t believe it. It was so surreal that I hung my first
paid ticket on my wall as my way of telling me “this is it. This is real.
God gave me something to use and share with the word. Keep pushing
forward.”
MMIA: Do you ever regret your decision to become a full-time
entrepreneur?
JANELLE: Oh nooo! Absolutely not one regret in my bones at all. The
only time I honestly feel like being a mompreneur wasn’t going to work
for me is when I was working a day job. I suffer from anxiety attacks
at day jobs. BAD! I love being a mompreneur. This is literally inside
my bloodline. The majority of my family members are their own boss.
I seriously thrive off of this energy. I love to see my family members
being happy doing what they love. This helps me stay focused on my
own personal “Why” and keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward.
MMIA: How do you balance the roles of mommy and entrepreneur?
JANELLE: Balance is very important. Without having a balanced
schedule then we tend to be all over the place, unfocused, and get nothing
accomplished. Without balance your world is literally up-side-down. I
personally have to have balance. I stick with a 2 hour rule. Meaning I only
work at nights for just two hours. Nothing more and nothing less. I stick

with a to do list and this helps me big time. I always have a plan of action
daily and weekly. I love looking at my plan on paper and check marking
off the things that I got done. This is so balancing LOL. It helps me keep
my mind and spirit in order. Think of it like this, if you are told to stand
on one leg for 30 minutes or you will not win 1 million dollars, oh I bet
you so will figure out how to balance that one leg for 30 minutes for that
million bucks right? So treat life and business the sa
