Best Practices For Operating Safely & Productively

Administration
• Develop a COVID-19 preparedness and response plan consistent with OSHA guidance
• Designate worksite supervisor ( s ) for COVID-19 control strategies
• Create a response plan for symptomatic or confirmed cases of COVID-19
◦◦Require employee to self-report COVID-19 symptoms
◦◦Adopt protocols to close , clean and disinfect areas of the facility
◦◦Immediately notify local public health department
◦◦Within 24 hours , notify those in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19
◦◦Maintain a central log for symptomatic employees and confirmed cases of COVID-19
◦◦Send potentially exposed individuals home
◦◦Prohibit an employee with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 from returning until no longer infectious according to
CDC guidelines
• Promote remote work to the fullest extent possible
• Restrict non-essential business travel and in-person visits to the facility
• Offer a variety of leave options for employee absences related to COVID-19
Personal Protective Equipment
• Provide face coverings to employees
• Require face coverings be worn when six feet of separation cannot be maintained
• Consider face shields when three feet of separation cannot be maintained
• Identify and maintain an inventory of PPE consistent with company risk management policies and government guidelines including : face coverings , gloves , infrared thermometers , disinfectant wipes , hand sanitizer , soap , paper towel , face shields ( if necessary ) and biohazard containers
Pre-Screening
• Conduct a daily entry self-screening protocol for all individuals entering the facility
◦◦Questionnaire covering symptoms and possible exposure
◦◦Temperature screening ( if possible )
◦◦Dedicated entry points for daily screening with physical barriers to prevent bypass
Social Distancing
• Review production layouts and methods and adjust to maintain 6 feet of separation to the maximum extent possible
• Use floor markings , signs and physical barriers to reinforce social distancing
• Reduce congestion in common spaces
• Consider implementing rotational shift schedules and staggering meal and break times
• Minimize personal contact upon delivery of materials
Communication and Training
• Train employees on infection-control practices , the proper use of PPE and internal COVID-19 notification procedures before returning to work
• Create and communicate a culture that supports an employee requesting to stay home , once at work , or in the event of a COVID-19 diagnosis or exposure
• Provide regular updates to employees
Hygiene , Cleanliness and Disinfection
• Increase facility cleaning and disinfection frequency , scope and method
• Ensure sufficient hand washing and sanitation stations
• Require all employees to sanitize their hands immediately upon arrival
• Make cleaning supplies available to employees
• Limit sharing of tools and equipment
