And , although many MCLPs have been working in the industry for a few years or more , we also see recent graduates from horticulture programs having success on the exam – and leveraging certification to secure their ideal career path .
What Do You Need to Know to Succeed on the Exam ? The MCLP Study Guide is the essential online reference for the MCLP exam . Every question on the exam comes directly from the chapters or the images in the Study Guide . The Study Guide is a required purchase prior to taking the exam .
That said , there is no substitute for on-the-job experience . You need to know your plants ! You need to know plant science and the latest management techniques . Reaching out to current MCLPs can be helpful in gaining exposure to the various areas of concentration covered in the exam .
The following topics are covered on the exam . A successful candidate will know the essentials about each of these topics , even if they don ’ t work within that specialty each day . But don ’ t let this list intimidate you – just dig in and get studying !
