MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

This column focuses on what ' s happening around the MLP office and answers some of MLP ' s frequently asked membership questions .
Hello MLP Members , I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and optimistic ! I ’ m sure everyone is looking forward to warmer days ahead and hopefully more face-to-face gatherings .
Sign Up Your Affiliates MLP ’ s new Affiliate Membership ranks are growing . For employees of member companies who intend to participate in educational programs or who are MCLPs , this $ 18 annual membership will easily pay for itself — discounting $ 20 for every webinar and waiving $ 75 on MCLP recertification — while supporting the association . If you have employees that need CEUs or who plan to get involved with the MCLP program , you ’ ll want to sign them up as Affiliates !
What is Your Company Size ? One question that comes up frequently at renewal time is how to calculate your company size . Are you a commercial level 1 or 2 ? 3 or 4 ? Some people assume that company size is related to how many employees are members of MLP — but that is not the case . Rather , company size is determined by the average number of full-time staff your company employs across the year . For example , in the spring , summer and fall , your company might have 40 full time staff . In the winter , your company might reduce down to 5 full time staff . That makes 8 months of 40 full time staffers and 4 months of 5 full time staffers . ( 40x8 ) + ( 5x4 ) = 340 . 340 divided by 12 months of the year equals a monthly average of 28.3 full-time employees .
This is an “ honor system ” calculation . We understand that sometimes it is your best guess ! Correctly assessing your company size levels the playing field for large versus smaller companies and keeps MLP strong by making membership accessible to companies of all sizes and specialties . If you have questions about your membership level or need to make an adjustment , just be in touch .
I wish everyone plenty of sunshine as we head into the spring season ! ❖
