representations of feminism . Sometimes , even good ones , if they get riled up enough . But if any feminist shoots the target at “ men who hate women ,” then apparently the guy who doesn ’ t hate women felt it was aimed at him . If the line doesn ’ t apply to you , why feel zinged by it ?
The talk of being angry at feminism by far outweighs any dialogue about genuinely supporting male-related issues . We have a whole lot of men , old and young , running around with this mentality that they are the true victims and that everyone should pay attention to them and not feminism , which for some reason they see as the big , strong , cool boyfriend to their Teenage Dirtbag à la that whole Wheatus song . The irony isn ’ t lost when they claim that those on the side of feminism and / or overreaching “ PC culture ” are the sensitive ones being mean and crying about their non-existent problems . I ’ m not just simply proposing for us to hate on the conditions that have allowed this mentality to persist , but to go after and mock and protest the purveyors of that line of thinking isn ’ t necessarily going to have them open their stupid minds . I ’ m fully aware that the MRA gather both on and offline to hate on women and pass around misogynistic literature and ideas that sometimes not-so-vaguely suggest that we should go back to the nuclear family oppressive gender dynamics of the 1950s .
Alright ! Fine ! They ’ re hard to love ! I get it ! It ’ s like cuddling up to a big shaved rat-possum with a dreadful skin disease . But perhaps , just maybe , we can all do a little more to bridge the gap . Especially , my fellow male allies , who are sometimes the better voices .
