Four of UE’s six freshmen hail from the Hoosier state, as does new assistant coach Ashley Barlow, a native of Indianapolis, who was a standout at Notre Dame. Evansville’s other two freshman come to Indiana from Michigan and Wisconsin, while new director of basketball operations Doug Rogers is an Illinois native. • Evansville was one of the surprises in the Missouri Valley Conference last season and will be looking to build on that momentum heading into 2013-14. The Purple Aces, who finished 5-25 and 2-16 in the MVC in head coach Oties Epps’ first season at the helm in 2011-12, posted a 9-22 overall mark and placed seventh in the Valley with a 7-11 record in league games last season. The nine wins were the most by a UE squad since 2008-09, while the 7-11 conference mark was the best since 2007-08, when Evansville won the MVC regular-season title. • The Purple Aces return just 43 percent of their scoring and 32 percent of their re- bounding from last season, after the graduation of Samantha Heck, who averaged 14.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game as a senior. Junior Khristian Hart returns as Evansville’s top scorer, after averaging 13.6 points per game in her 19 games last season, before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. Fellow junior Mallory Ladd led UE with 8.6 rebounds per game last season and averaged 10.9 points per contest. Ladd also shot a remarkable 94.9 percent from the free throw line (74-for-78), setting an Aces’ single-season record. Basketball Support Staff Matt Ruffing Asst. Coach 56 56 FahKara Malone Asst.
