NOTEWORTHY
• Marcus Marshall is coming off a banner freshman
season in which he became the second MSU player
(Blake Ahearn 2004) to earn MVC Freshman of the Year
honors. Marshall broke Ahearn’s MSU freshman scoring record by registering 368 points in 32 games as a
Bears’ rookie.
• The Bears will get the services of two top rebounders
back this season with the return of seniors Jarmar Gulley (5.8 rpg, 25 GS in 2011-12) and Keith Pickens (4.7
rpg, 19 GS in 2012-13). Gulley missed the entire 201213 campaign recovering from a torn ACL, while Pickens’
plans to leave the game due to chronic knee pain were
modified with his announced return in September.
• With 100 games under his belt, senior Nathan Scheer
is the most seasoned Bear headed into the 2013-14
season. He was a member of the MVC All-Bench Team
in 2013 and is a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete Team
selection.
