MVC Among National RPI Leaders

The MVC was at No. 8 in the final RPI in 2012-13. Since 2005 (past nine
seasons), The Valley has finished among the top 9 conferences all but one
time, which includes a No. 6 ranking in 2005-06 and in 2006-07. Before
2006, The Valley’s previous all-time best was No. 8 (1999, 2005, 2008).

MVC Makes Tremendous Strides in Recent Years

The Valley’s No. 6 RPI ranking in 2005 an 2006 is an all-time best. Listed

RPI: 40 or Better Make the NCAAs

Since 1990-91, 880 out of a total 913 eligible teams between No. 1 through
No. 40 have made the NCAA Tournament. Only 19 eligible teams (including
seven teams from The Valley) ranked 40 and better in the past 14 years have
not made the NCAAs, most recently Southern Mississippi (31) in 2013. Missouri State (rated No. 21 in the RPI in 2006) was the first team 29 or better
not selected. In 2009, Creighton was the first team in NCAA history to have a
40 RPI or better (40) and 26 wins to be denied an NCAA Tournament berth.
