‘ best saved for last’ act Green Day, but our train tickets could only be used this Sunday, so this way we didn’ t have to buy new, expensive tickets and we would have a good head start on all of the thousands festival-visitors who would be getting home by train like us.
There were brilliant acts coming today, just like every single previous day. Bands like Kensington( awesome Dutch band, if you don’ t know them yet, go check them out, you’ ll like it I promise!), Bastille, Will and the People, Lianne la Havas, the Vaccines, Ben Howard and Green Day as I already told you before. All those widely-know sings like‘ Lion in the morning sun’,‘ Pompeii’,‘ Keep your head up’ and you know what I’ m talking about, came on and the crowd sang and cheered along. Later in the midday I finally got the chance to use my majestic PinkPOP-poncho( pink of course, duh!) and people stopped to look at it admirable and asked where I got this rainprotecting tent. I still have it here at home, too many good memories linked to it and it would be a waste to throw it away you know? At least my money was spent wisely on an outfit that was keeping me dry haha! Enough about my wonderful pink souvenir already. Sadly, we weren’ t able to go all of the bands we wanted to see, but we enjoyed every second we had left to spent at this magical event!
Before we knew it we were on our way back home again. Sitting in the train and occupying a few extra seats with our bags and stuff, spending time looking back on our weekend and trapped in a festivalfrenzy. Sleeping in your own comfortable bed again, having the comforts of home like an actual shower, clean water and everything; it makes you realize how lucky you actually are with having a good, modern home. We’ re used to having all of this within our reach but it takes a trip like this, spending days at a simple camping, to be thankful to have a roof over your head.
It’ s been more than a week since PinkPOP ended, but I don’ t want to let the memories go, not now and not ever! And I know I won’ t forget, because times like these leave such an impression, it stays with you, etched in your mind and heart like permanent tattoo-ink. Missing the music, that typical‘ festival feeling’ and the freedom, being away from that constant routine of life and breaking the daily grind, but enjoying being home again at the same time; the aftermath of a festival is unexpected and a bit of bizarre, still I don’ t have any regrets. I had the most incredible and amazing time with my friends, in fact I cannot wait to go again next year! I guess I’ m not taking my wristband off anytime soon, all I have to do is just look down at it and all those awesome memories and feelings come flooding back …. And it never fails to make me smile. ■
