What a rewarding experience from day one of organizing the Miss Black New Mexico Pageant in Hobbs NM on June 30, 2018, to reaping the rewards of crowning the Pageant Winner.
I am so grateful for the team that I have at my side. Ms. Wilma T Brooks, Ms. Rebecca Royal, and Ms. Diane Henry, Ms. Kelly Triplett Burkley and special advisor, Ms. Cathy Marshall of the Juneteenth Committee, thanks to Ms. Cassandra Howard, Royelle Clark and to our Mayor Mr. Sam Cobb.
A very special thanks to the Office of Africa American Affairs Mrs. Beverly Jordon, and Mrs. Nicole Bedford.
We would like to congratulate our own Miss Black New Mexico, Alexandra Germain for winning the Miss Black New Mexico title. Congratulations for winning 1st runner-up in the Miss Black America Pageant held August 18th in Kansas City Mo. Congratulations Ms. Germain for making history as the First Miss Black New Mexico representative in the 50th Anniversary, Miss Black America Pageant. The first to place in all categories, top ten Swim, talent, on-stage question and Top Ten Overall. Miss Germain, the first contestant from NM to impress so many other organizations for possibly many more great ventures to come. That is all I can say for now. So stay tuned because Miss Germain has only just begun.
As with many events, there are some hiccups and we had ours. Steve Harvey and many others are not alone as we join the league. After an audited tally of votes, we learned that our 1st runner up for the Miss Black New Mexico Pageant held in Hobbs NM was incorrectly crowned. Ms. Bennett was crowned as Ms. Positivity and the 1st runner-up, while indeed the first runner was truly Ms. Morgan Godbolt. Congratulations Morgan!
Congratulations to all the beautiful young women for during such a great job representing themselves and the great state of New Mexico with elegance and style.
