Launched in 2018 , the Wheel of Fortune “ Home Sweet Home Giveaway ” created so much excitement and response that America ’ s Game ® continued its partnership with Minto Communities and Margaritaville in subsequent seasons .
In 2021 , in addition to giving a home away to a viewer , the partnership was expanded to give contestants appearing on “ Home Sweet Home ” week the opportunity to win a new home at a Latitude Margaritaville community in either Daytona Beach or Watersound in Florida , or Hilton Head in South Carolina . A “ Home Sweet Home ” wedge was added to the iconic Wheel and an envelope was added to the game show ’ s Bonus Wheel representing the prize . Laura Trammell won the prize becoming the first and only person to date to win a home as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune .

Trammell , formerly of Mission Viejo , California , and husband Dave chose to make Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach their home . A sixth grade teacher for 23 years , Trammell retired in June , and the couple moved into their new home in July 2022 . When talking about the new chapter , Trammell sites a quote by Helen Keller , “ Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all .” Then adds , “ I thought , well , I need to start living that .” So the couple sold their home in California and headed to Florida .
The 2022 “ Home Sweet Home Giveaway ” winner is retired Tuft ’ s University men ’ s basketball coach Bob Sheldon . He and wife Cindy chose Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head and their new home is under construction . When Sheldon was notified that he had won a house , he says his first question was , “ Is this for real ?”
