Latitude Margaritaville ’ s first camp out in 2017 Life long friends and neighbors
On Sunday , November 12 , 2017 , more than 300 aspiring home buyers secured their spots in line under a huge white tent and camped out all night awaiting start of sales the next morning . While they waited , they got to know neighbors to be at Latitude Margaritaville ’ s first unofficial block party .
The festivities were complete with dancing to a band playing Jimmy Buffett tunes , pizza , a showing of Jurassic World with cheers erupting at the part where Jimmy Buffett makes his cameo appearance carrying a margarita , games and more . In the wee hours of the morning , a few folks occasionally napped in lawn chairs and pop-up tents . The next morning , the fun continued with coffee and donuts , a steel drum band , and colorful Margaritaville stilt walkers . As sales center doors swung open at 9 a . m ., campers entered by number in line to secure their future homes in paradise .
Residents agreed that the fifth anniversary of this benchmark event for Latitude Margaritaville ’ s flagship community could not go by without a celebration . This time , the party was at the colorful Latitude Town Center where Latitude Margaritaville Ambassador of Fun , Ed Cone , served pizza and beverage concoctions at the Last Mango Theater and the movie Caddyshack played on the Town Square band shell ’ s jumbo screen .
Resident Lisa Morris and her husband Rich were number nine in line at the sales launch campout . “ They call us the pioneers ,” laughs Lisa . “ We ’ ve done something every year to commemorate the launch date . At the campout , everyone had a blast and we made life-long friends that are now neighbors . We ’ ll always be there for one another . It ’ s years later and , when I talk about it , I still get chills .”
