The rise of graffiti has helped the sculpture to rise to alongside it, this rise has been noticed by some of the more observant ones among us, their growth is slow, gradual and somehow stunted on a national scale. But no longer are our roundabouts and famous buildings adorned by decaying, falling apart monuments of popular people and places, now sparkling, brand new concrete clad, gleaming images rise up, their shine a constant dare to Mother Nature to do her worst. Again Lagos, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states are becoming hotspots for these interesting beings. This is terrific for the culture and tourism industries as well as for those with a knack for preserving history. 39 History, which can be likened to the tides constantly plaguing our sea shores is a force that is always changing, constantly in a flux and never for once stagnant in time. Yet still, we struggle to document these in whatever tangible and feeble ways we can. Overall every graffiti artist knows that the wall is only yours for as long as the elements allow, but despite how many times a wall exchanges hands, the tell tale signs remain. The wall remembers…
