“Kweyve stands for “The One Woman” or, “The Woman amongst Women.”
The way I see it, every woman is Kweyve, unique in her own way, and that is what
I like to tell my audience through my work. The women I paint are a depiction of
all the different types of women that exist.
We all have very unique features, hair, strengths and weaknesses, but those
differences are exactly what makes us, us.
My art is the voice of every woman. I intend to tell our stories to the world, and
also to show everyone that even though we are diverse, we are one, because
I think that believing that we are, could be the beginning of a very beautiful
movement.
A sisterhood of unstoppable forces.
Women, especially here in the north where I’m from, are stripped of their
identities very early on. I think it is very necessary to remind them, who they are
though. I understand this will take more than a painting, but it could be a start.
