and threw them all out over 12 rolls of 36 thinking film is dead. [11:13] After the first year of owning the XTI I upgraded the lens to a 24105 f4 and from there every few months the camera bodies. [11:13] <@mink> That can get pretty expensive -- every few months! [11:14] Everything I do is self thought. I’m a more technical shooter. Every gear I own I know the weakness and strong point and use that to my advantage. I read the reviews and tests of the camera bodies and lens and know where is the sweet spots. [11:03] <@mink> Speaking of electronic gadgets, you’re shooting with the 5D Mark III right now -- plans to upgrade to the IV? [11:04] I’m pretty happy with the 5D III and depending on the new sensor in the IV I would sell my 5D III and my backup 5D II to fund the difference for the 5D IV [11:05] <@mink> Yeah -- I hope it’s a hit. It has the WiFi capabilities that I was hoping that all cameras by now would have had. Way easier than tethering. [11:06] I also use a Nikon D800 when I do some commercial type shoots. I should use it more because it has a better sensor. The Canon kills the Nikon on how fast it acquire focus and the 5D III you are able to link separate vertical and horizontal point. With the Nikon I have to take a few seconds to move that single af over the person eye. “ I actually used to shoot film and slides in the late 70’s and early 80’s. My dad had a few Minolta cameras. In high school I did a few sports and the cheerleaders on Ektachrome asa200 and  Kodachrome 64 and wondered why I could not get a fast shutter speed. I had no idea what the difference was. [11:06] <@mink> When did you start shooting, anyway? [11:08] I actually used to shoot film and slides in the late 70’s and early 80’s. My dad had a few Minolta cameras. In high school I did a few sports and the cheerleaders on Ektachrome asa200 and  Kodachrome 64 and wondered why I could not get a fast shutter speed. I had no idea what the difference was. [11:09] <@mink> sports were hard back then -- even sports cameras today have performance levels much greater than our studio counterparts [11:09] When Digital dslr started to come on the market I shot shooting. I used to attend a lot of family cousins wedding in Miami and shot film develop at Scooters those big 5x7 prints and gave them a set. [11:10] My cousin brought over a Canon XT and I said wow this thing is pretty neat and then bought my first dslr the Canon XTI [11:14] <@mink> Do you remember your first fashion shoot? [11:17] Yes I can still remember all my shots when starting out. I had places a casting back in the days on model mayhem and a model who would be a standard agency model responded and also a mua and stylist. I used to have space at my work location 2200 sq ft so I turned 3 rooms into a studio and for 2 years did glamour studio work. After awhile I found it boring that same pose just different model. [11:18] The mua Jonah Fheonix responded he would love to be part of the team and said he would even style the shoot. Being as green as I was I said you mean “You are a hair stylist?” He responded “Nono clothing!” We shot 4 looks and they were amazing. [11:10] <@mink> That’s awesome -- you still shoot any film today? [11:12] No film today, during the transition to digital I had all kinds of Kodak Gold and Fiji film in the fridge. Had it for a good 8 years+ M.INK | Volume 2 Continued on Page 74 8
