POWER ENGINEERING FOR INDUSTRY MINING INDUSTRY EXPO OILGASEXPO ZAPORIZHZHIA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT SEPARATE ENTITY OF ENERGOATOM, NATIONAL NUCLEAR ENERGY GENERATING COMPANY, SE 133 Promyslova St., UA-71504 Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhya reg., Ukraine tel.: +38 06139 5 63 59 fax: +38 06139 5 55 33 e-mail: [email protected] www.npp.zp.ua The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is the largest nuclear power not only in Ukraine but also in Europe. It is a modern high-tech enterprise, a powerful supplier of electricity in Ukraine. The station generates over a fifth of the annual production in the country, and almost a half of the share of Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plants. To maintain a high level of personnel qualification, a training center was created in 1992 at the ZNPP, which includes full-scale simulators – analogues of unit control boards of the 1st, 3rd and 5th units. On the premises of the ZNPP NTC, a training center for repair and management personnel is being created that is unique worldwide, since it will operate a full-scale simulator – an analogue of the equipment used in the reactor building of the operating power reactor. For the first time in Ukraine, a dry storage for spent nuclear fuel from WWER-1000 was built at the ZNPP. Its commercial operation began in 2004. The project value is 380 containers. The station saves tens of millions of dollars annually because it no longer needs to export spent nuclear fuel to Russia. For the first time in the CIS countries, the information and measurement system “Ring” was commissioned at the ZNPP, which is designed for continuous monitoring of radiation at the Nuclear Power Plant site, in the sanitary protection zone, and in the 30-km surveillance zone. In 2008, according to the WANO Moscow Center, the ZNPP was recognized as the best among Nuclear Power Plants that are members of the Moscow Center by eleven generally accepted indicators. In 2015, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant overcame a landmark milestone – it produced 1 trillion kWh since its commissioning. Such achievements can be boasted only by a few global power generation units, and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is among them. 223 International Exhibition Centre
