Miniature Horse World The Official Publication Of The American Miniature Horse Association editor’s notes by Melissa Powell A Facebook friend shared an article with me chock full of facts and figures that prove what may be obvious to some already- all equine registries across the board are continuing at a flat line rate. Although the article contains good information and at the very least, confirms the Miniature horse industry is still holding its own, I prefer to focus on the positive influence our Minis continue to generate with every person they come in contact with. Case in point, the newly crowned World Show Super Amateur, Ailene Tarap. Her story begins with an intro sentence that says it all, “If anyone had told me in 2013 I would be showing Miniatures instead of Quarter horses, I would have told you that you were crazy.” Minis are a draw that cannot be ignored and many times it takes just one introduction to change a person’s history for the better. Two other “feel good” stories are featured in this issue. Our Miniature Tales spotlight the lifetime of love shared between two young girls and their Miniatures. The obvious love and adoration these two showered on their horses has been returned ten-fold, producing well adjusted, smart, talented, now young women, who are ready to conquer whatever life might throw at them. I hope you enjoy their stories as much as I did. Eastern Championship Photo Corrections Our apologies for incorrectly featuring the following photos in the Eastern Championship Results. Stallion reports are already flowing into the office with the promise of potential champions being born in the spring. It’s safe to assume that dream is what keeps AMHA going. A breeding plan is made, mother nature sees the mission accomplished and the tiny, scampering foal that is produced may someday stand in the winner’s circle as a World Champion. Everyone loves a winner and AMHA certainly wants to show off its brightest and best! The Honor Roll, Register of Merits and AMHA Champions will all be featured in the next Miniature Horse World, along with the full World Show Futurity results and the 2016 Stallion Directory, where mare owners can easily select the stallion of their dreams. Until next time... Warm wishes for a very Merry Chris F
