After it was over I felt better than I did before.
Everyone was saying how great it was and
saying how I was going on to State. That doubt was still there, but it got easier and easier to ignore the more people I talked to. Sure enough I got a 1!! Now I had to prepare for State.
We changed very little about my act and soon State was upon us. The seed was back and bigger then ever. I never broke eye contact with the middle judge. I think I might have scared him a little. The only thing that we changed I forgot to do so I was a little worried about that. I felt really good about my performance. I got three 1’s!! That didn’t mean that I automatically got to go to All State though, I still had to get nominated.
I waited in anticipation on Monday, but I never heard anything. After almost every person in speech told me that it was awesome and that I was ‘so’ going to All State not getting to go was especially crushing. I had seen his improves before, and they weren’t the best. I slowly got over the fact that this year wasn’t my year, and I moved on even slower. Never be afraid to try new things and don’t let the mistakes of the past stop you from doing them again. Always enjoy your moments, or you might regret them.
