Memoir

I am about to tell you a wondrous tale of a young girl’s endeavor. It involves her struggles, and tells of her elation and unfortunate moments. Some may be wondering who this mysterious girl is. It is I, Jessie Thompson. I have never done individual speech before, but I loved large group speech and drama. I wasn’t considering going out for individual this year, that is until Shawn and Mr. Nuss asked me if I have done it before and they both thought I would be good at it. Here my tale starts.

I was running out of time to find a piece to preform and I didn’t even know where to start looking. I tried looking up ‘speech acting pieces’ and other things like that but nothing was right. I asked Mr. Nuss and he said, “Any monologue would work.” I guessed that, but the problem was that not all the monologues would work for me. This was my first year and I wanted to wow everyone. I looked through many pieces but none were right. Then, I stumbled upon a great web sight where there were multitudes of monologues. Not all good but I found a few that might work. Tried reading through them and got rid of some. I finally had it narrowed down to three pieces.

I saw Shawn passing by so I called out to him. “Shawn, do you have a second? I want your opinion on these monologues for speech.” I really needed some guidance; I couldn’t do it on my own.
