As I explore the farthest wall from the gate, I see

a stream. It seems like it comes from nowhere,

there isn’t any space in the wall for the water to get through. I follow it to the other wall and I see that I can’t get out that way either. There is just enough opening in the wall for the shallow water to get through. At least I now have a source of water.

I decide to try the door to the shed again because I have nothing else to do. I keep yanking on it till it pops opened. My suspicions were correct; it was just filled with old tools. Then I see my saving grace, up on the top shelf there is a granola bar. I almost take the worn blanket but then I see it is so chewed up and covered it dirt (I hope) that I decided to pass. I didn’t want to stay in the shed longer; I suspected that it wasn’t really dirt, so my only other option was to sleep outside. In one corner of my new home was a ginormous willow tree. I figured that it would provide some protection.

I wake up feeling rested and rejuvenated, who knew you could feel this way after sleeping on the ground! I make my way back to the shed. When I look inside again I see another granola bar. I must have missed it before!

The rest of the day is uneventful and I really start to miss my family and friends. That night before I go to bed I pray that the government will open the doors.

I wake up in a hospital bed. My parents are in chairs next to my bed talking quietly, they haven’t noticed that I’m awake yet. I try to say something but my mouth is dry, just a raspy sound comes out. My mom notices first and sends my dad to go get the doctors.
